The Baja Boys Claim the Crown in California

1215 CAMPEONES EN CALIFORNIA ANAHEIM, CA — Baja California’s Boys Team won the Youth Category in the last edition of the 2009 Holiday Classic, celebrated in California. This tournament reunited more than 190 teams from Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada and Southern California, competing in many categories. This Mexican team was one of three who participated on the Classic. All of them from the Baja California region.

The team coached by Oscar Licea, defeated HBC 14 from Huntington Beach, California 3-0 on the final match to claim the crown. “This was an inspirational victory, because We played at the American Sports Center, a place that is the home of the American Men’s National Team, the 2008 Olympic Champions,” said Licea who has been in charge of the National Junior Teams in Mexico and also has coached some other teams from Baja California during their training camps in Europe, Cuba and China.

According to the coach this was a great step on the road to the National Junior Olympic Championships which will take place next year in Guadalajara, the city that will also host the Pan-Am Games in 2011.
