Soaring Eagle leaders, Vicky Gambala, Richard Orvedal and this year Head Dancer, Richard Parker Van Dyke invited our Native American, active military, students, artists and many visitors will enjoy the August 10-11, 2013 Chula Vista pow wow.
All attending will discover experiences of personal enhancement of self esteem and beautiful free entertainment to inspire new perceptions of Native American culture, dance and song. The bay front location of the pow wow is yet another facet of attraction and ease of access and parking.
Many of last year first time visitors have told their friends of the date for this August 10-11, 2013 pow wow and this effort will bring others to discover this FREE event and add to an even larger audience this year. Everyone is invited! Chula Vista Bay on J Street.
The 17th Annual Lemon Festival Returns to Third Avenue Village August 11
Pucker up for South Bay’s largest summer event. The Lemon Festival returns to Third Avenue Village for its 17th year on Sunday, August 11, presented by car2go San Diego. At the Lemon Festival enjoy live music, a variety of vendors, lemon-themed contests and a Kids’ Fun Zone from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Third Avenue from E to G Street in the heart of Chula Vista.
Live bands will perform on two stages located at F Street and G Street. Here you can also take part in contests open to the public. The ever popular Marie Callender’s Lemon Pie eating contest returns and new this year will be a lemonade drinking contest. Have a lemon tree at home? Bring the cream of your crop for the annual Largest Lemon contest.
With 200 booths at this year’s Lemon Festival, the Third Avenue Village Association is hosting the largest number of exhibitors it has in over five years. One-of-a-kind artisanal handmade items, community information and more will fill historic Third Avenue for the celebration.
4th Annual Twainfest at Old Town State Park
For the fourth year in a row, TwainFest will come to Old Town San Diego State Historic Park this summer. TwainFest is a free family-friendly festival celebrating the writing of Mark Twain and his contemporaries and will take place on Sat., Aug. 17. The fun starts 11 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m.
TwainFest presents professional actors and musicians performing throughout the day, puppets, inventive games and interactive educational actitivities. Performances and activities will be offered on state park’s grassy plaza as well as in its historic structures.

El Museo Marítimo será anfitrión del evento el 11 de agosto de 1-5pm donde se presentarán más de 40 distintas cervezas incluyendo unas selecciones añejas y únicas. Boletos para el evento son de $40 e incluye la admisión al museo, la oportunidad de saborear 15 diferentes clases de cervezas y el obsequio de un vaso como recuerdo.
National City Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society’s National City’s Relay for Life is scheduled for August 24th & 25th at Kimball Park. Relay for Life is a 24 hour campout and walk-a-thon that empowers the community to take part in the fight against cancer while honoring its survivors and remembering loves ones that lost their life to the disease of cancer.
The basic idea of the Relay is to keep at least one team member moving on the track during the entire 24 hour period.
There is entertainment and activities for all ages throughout the day and night.
