¡Latin Food Fest! Announces Its National Tour Kick-Off in San Diego

¡LATIN FOOD FEST! (www.latinfoodfest.com) announces a national tour for its Latin culinary festival that will pay homage to the top emerging Hispanic culinary regions the U.S. and showcase the chefs, restaurants, food and beverage purveyors that make these destinations so significant. Kicking off in San Diego September 12 – 15, 2013.

“We’re excited to share our extraordinary San Diego line-up with our fellow Latin culinary enthusiasts around the globe,” said Richie Matthews who serves as President of DIÁLOGO PR, which hosts the Fest. “¡LATIN FOOD FEST! will transform downtown San Diego – from PETCO Park to The San Diego Wine & Culinary Event Center and aboard a stunning 142’ private yacht – to educate palates and entertain over 6,000 patrons at 15 events, in high style.”

¡LATIN FOOD FEST! San Diego has partnered with The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank to help eradicate hunger in San Diego. The Fest is also collaborating with The James Beard Foundation.

The 2013 Fest will feature an unprecedented roster of culinary talent and events, which will include an Opening Party, Ultra-Premium Tequila and Rare Wine Tasting parties, Educational Seminars, Cocktail Parties, Chef Benefit Dinners, Chef Demonstrations on the Celebrity Cooking Stage, Live and Silent Auctions; Culinary Tasting Event, and Wine Reception, Live Auction and Chef’s Brunch.

Signature white tents stretching across PETCO Park at the Park will be home to the epitome of all tasting events featuring star-studded demonstrations and the Tasting Pavilions, which will showcase offerings from more than 70 restaurants, and wine, spirits and Baja craft beer suppliers.

Weekend Festival features Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Races, Cultural Entertainment and Food on Mission Bay

The public is invited to San Diego’s largest Hawaiian festival on May 4 & 5, 2013, at De Anza Cove on Mission Bay.

The Third Annual San Diego Ho’olaule’a and Keiki Heihei Wa’a (Hawaiian Festival and Youth Canoe Regatta) includes Hawaiian outrigger canoe races, standup paddle competition, two entertainment stages, food booths, boutique vendors and information booths.

Hawaiian Hula Halau and Tahitian dance groups will be performing all day on the main stage while live bands will be performing on the kanikapila stage, with performers coming from as far away as San Francisco.

On Saturday, May 4, 2013 teams from as far away as Hawaii will be competing in the third Annual Nâ  Koa Kai Canoe Club Keiki Heihei Waã– (‘ã–a or Youth outrigger canoe regatta.

On Sunday May 5th, Nâ  Koa Kai Canoe Club features its first annual “Stand Up For The Kids SUP Race.” There will also be a raffle for a Creed SUP board but tickets must be purchased in advance or you must participate in the race to be entered. This stand up paddle race is a race for all skill levels and all ages (adult and youth).

The proceeds from the two races go to Nâ Koa Kai Canoe Club ã–(‘ã–s all-volunteer-managed cultural immersion program to purchase another Hawaiian canoe. Nâ  Koa Kai Canoe Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to perpetuating the Hawaiian and Pacific Island culture and fostering a lifestyle of fitness through competitive outrigger canoe racing.

Southwestern College’s A.B.L.E. Club hosts VW Beetle car show

Southwestern College’s Abilities Beyond Limitation Through Education (A.B.L.E.) Club is hosting its inaugural Volkswagen Air-cooled Fiesta Car Show. The event is co-sponsored by the San Diego Aircooled Car Club and will showcase every era of Volkswagen Beetles. The car show fundraiser is meant to promote disability awareness, and proceeds from the car show will be used for scholarships and to purchase disability equipment.

The event will also include a mini-swap meet, varieties of food, a DJ and Beatles cover band—Baja Bugs. The event is free and open to the public.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the Chula Vista Center located at 555 Broadway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5! All are invited to enjoy the live mariachi and ballet folklorico entertainment, face painting, balloon art, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park ticket giveaways and more!

The 30th Annual Old Town Cinco de Mayo

Friday, May 3rd, 2013 – Sunday, May 5th, 2013

The spiciest weekend of the year is returning and will be “hot, hot, hot” as Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo celebrates 30 years! This FREE festival extravaganza will once again extend from two to three days of dynamic “fiestaing”. The 30th Annual Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo will kick off on Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at 5:00 PM with All Night Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday specials and continue through the weekend on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday, May 5th, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This FREE Fiesta will feature three stages with live entertainment, over 10 bands, traditional ballet folklorico dancers, equestrian shows, a mercado with over 100 retail and food booths, beer garden, and Lowrider Lane, which will all transform the streets into the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration north of the border!

The fiesta will resume on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and continue into Sunday, May 5th, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Everywhere you go, music will be playing and you can salsa over to one of the two event stages where you will be entertained with sizzling flamenco beats, Norteno flairs and traditional Mariachi music. The Cafe Coyote Stage located on San Diego Avenue and Conde will have you dancing through Saturday and Sunday. You won’t want to miss the Ballet Folklorico Competition starting at 9:00 AM on the Fiesta de Reyes Stage; the mariachi music of Rojas Charros and Mariachi Imperial de San Diego; guitar stylings of Malamana and Latin A Go Go; and more.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo at the ArtWalk

The ArtWalk is a monthly, outdoor event boasting fine artists, community art-based organizations as well as local aspiring art students. Vendors for the May 5th ArtWalk will be catering their creations to the Mexican-American Heritage Celebrations. Each artist has been invited to showcase works that specifically include, incorporate or are inspired by the Mexican victory over the French in 1862.Admission is always free.

What: ArtWalk & Car Show features an array of fine art sales and hands-on activities along with a high energy car club including Ferraris, exotics, sports cars, hot rods, classics, modified drag racers and more.
