Literary Speed Dating
The Chula Vista Public Library, where all love stories are housed and where bookends meet, has a unique event scheduled in February. Adults over the age of 21 can meet their novel friends or maybe a new love at the library’s Literary Speed Dating on Friday, February 12. In classic speed dating style, participants have five minutes with each partner to talk over their favorite books. The library, normally closed on Fridays, is open for this special occasion only, scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the Civic Center Branch Library, 365 F Street.

Sweethearts Sail on the Bay For the Ones You Love
The best place to celebrate Valentines Day with your loved ones is on beautiful San Diego Bay. Bring your Mom, Grandpa, kids, etc. and share this day of love with those you care about. Guests will board the official tall ship of California, the Californian, for a four hour scenic tour of the bay, marine wildlife and local attractions. Ticket prices include keepsake photos, souvenirs and maritime related gifts. Event takes place on Sunday, February 14 from 12pm-4pm. Tickets are $60 for adults and $35 for children and can be purchased online through the museum’s website at www.sdmaritime.org.

San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter Throws Wildest Mardi Gras Party West of the Mississippi
On February 16, Southern Comfort’s Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp Quarter will pack the historic district of downtown San Diego for the biggest N’Awlins style party west of the Mississippi. Two of the stars of MGM’s upcoming film “Hot Tub Time Machine”, Craig Robinson, who plays Darryl Philbin on the award-winning show “The Office” and Clark Duke from the hit show “Greek,” will be the Grand Marshalls of the Parade.
The royal King Lawrence and Queen Maria of Mardi Gras will host an electrifying crowd of more than 40,000 people partaking in festivities including live music with 10 stages and entertainment lounges, DJs, bands, go-go dancing and street performers, authentic Cajun eats, Southern Comfort Hurricanes, Heineken Light, and plenty of colorful beads and exotic boas to go around.
