Community Notes:

Notice of Public Scoping Meeting for State Route 94 HOV/BRT Lanes Project

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be hosting scoping meeting for a project proposing to evaluate design alternatives for improvements to State Route 94 (SR-94) between Interstate 805 (I-805) and Interstate 5 (I-5) in the Southeastern San Diego region of the City of San Diego. The proposed action includes the addition of one dedicated high occupancy vehicle (HOV)/bus rapid transit (BRT) lane in each direction within the median of SR-94, and would modify interchanges, connectors, and bridge overcrossings in the project corridor. Retaining/Sound walls would be added, and new right-of-way (ROW) and drainage modifications would be required. The No Build Alternative assumes that no HOV/BRT lanes would be constructed and no other freeway improvements would be made.

The scoping meeting will provide you an opportunity to review and discuss the proposed project features.  Caltrans will consider substantive comments provided and incorporate the necessary changes into the ongoing document effort.

The scoping meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation. You may attend the meeting anytime between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. A short video will be shown on a rotating basis to provide an overview of the project. The public will then have the opportunity to speak directly with Caltrans representatives about the project and its potential environmental impacts. Information for your review will include a project fact sheet, aerial photographs and other project information to be provided by Caltrans staff.

Comments may be submitted at the scoping meeting by completing a written comment form or by providing an oral comment to a court reporter. Spanish-speaking interpreters will be available at the scoping meeting and all comments received in Spanish will be accepted and translated. All comments will become part of the public record. Individuals who require special accommodation (American Sign Language interpreter, accessible seating, documentation in alternative formats, etc.) are requested to contact the District 11 Public Information Office at (619) 688-6670 at least 10 days prior to the scheduled meeting date. TTY users may contact the California Relay Service TTY line at 711.

For more information about this project, please contact Ron Caraet, Project Manager, at (619) 220-5391 or go to http://www.keepsandiegomoving.com.
