Student Art Scholarships
Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation’s John Steiger Performing Arts Scholarships are to be presented annually to seniors graduating from high schools in North County, based upon student experience, contributions to their performing arts program, and a teacher recommendation. This year’s selected student(s) can receive $750.00 to $900.00 to further their arts education. To be considered for this award, candidates must submit a typed 1-2 page only application which includes the following information:
1. Name, current telephone number, and mailing address
2. High school coursework in the performing arts, including current and completed
3. Additional outside or extracurricular performing arts experience
4. Future educational and career goals
5. How this scholarship would benefit and/or assist you
6. Why this scholarship should be awarded to you
Additionally applicants must include a Letter of Recommendation from their high school performing arts instructor, and a video tape/ DVD of themselves performing. The recording should be no longer than 5 minutes, and should showcase the candidate’s best efforts. Applicants are asked not to use YouTube as the distortion will not be to their best advantage. HACU seeking students for internship program
The HACU National Internship Program, the nation’s largest Hispanic internship program, is accepting applications from college and university students for internships taking place this summer, June 3-Aug. 13, 2011. Students accepted into the program participate in paid internships with federal and corporate offices in Washington, DC and across the nation. Deadline to apply is Feb. 25, 2011.
The HACU National Internship Program places more than 600 students in paid internships annually. These internships provide talented Hispanic and other minority students with the opportunity to develop their career and professional skills and receive financial support to help motivate students through graduation. The HACU National Internship Program has placed more than 9,000 students in internships since its inception in 1992.

What: FREE Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) screening for those at risk — anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of either of these conditions or of kidney disease is invited to attend. The comprehensive screening includes detailed health results and a consultation with a doctor on-site
