Meet Author Victor Villaseñor at Carlton Hills School
Meet author Victor Villaseñor on Tuesday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Carlton Hills School, 9353 Pike Rd. in Santee. Villaseñor will discuss his newest book, Lion Eyes. The lecture is free, open to the public and copies of the book will be available for purchase. Lion Eyes is the exciting true story of Jan Milburn, who came face-to-face with his totem and was transformed. As a young, love-deprived child, he got lost in a snowstorm in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California and a huge mountain lion led him safely home . . . setting him on a course for a miraculous life. Villaseñor gives voice to Jan’s thrilling tale, full of danger, clashes between light and darkness, romance and healing miracles.
Villaseñor is also the author of national bestsellers Rain of Gold, Thirteen Senses, Burro Genius and Crazy Loco Love, the last two of which were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. His other critically acclaimed books include Beyond Rain of Gold, Wild Steps of Heaven and Macho!, which was compared to the best of John Steinbeck by the Los Angeles Times. He is also the author of five ancestral-themed bilingual children’s books and has written several screenplays, including the award-winning The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez. The original Rain of Gold trilogy is now being developed into a movie.

Visit the free South Bay Homeowner-ship Resource Fair at Chula Vista City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue on Saturday, October 29. The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is sponsored by the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) and the Housing Opportunities Collaborative (HOC). Potential homebuyers and existing homeowners will have access to valuable information and programs to purchase or improve their residence. This year will also feature trick-ortreating for children and costume contests.
Educational workshops will be held throughout the day providing information on preparing for homeownership, available first-time homebuyer programs, sustaining homeown-ership through conservation measures and assistance programs, and the short sale and foreclosure process. Vendors
will include lenders, realtors, title/escrow, homeowners insurance, contractors, and information will be available on rehabilitation programs, utility assistance programs, appliance rebates, and energy conservation ideas. Interactive booths and How to Clinics will be offered as well as raffle prizes.
