Spooky Decor Up in Old Town to Get Visitors in The Halloween Spirit

Halloween décor including Día de los Muertos altars will be up starting mid-October. Old Town will have more than 30 altars for visitors to see as well as harvest decorations and carved pumpkins. What is sure to be a sight to see is six, life-size Catrina dolls (pictured) right outside of Fiesta de Reyes in Old Town San Diego State Park. On Oct. 29, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park will celebrate fall a la San Diego in the 1870s with a Fall Festival featuring crafts, pumpkin carving, special folklorico performances, and music. On Oct. 31, ghosts and goblins of all ages are invited for complimentary trick-or-treating from 4 to 6:30 p.m. On Nov. 1 and 2, the Día de los Muertos celebration will feature altar tours, sugar skull decorating, face painting, educational demonstrations and live music. The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park and “The X-periment”

Located in the world famous Balboa Park, The Haunted Trail is San Diego’s only all outdoor haunted attraction, with two attractions at one location. “The Haunted Trail” is the main event and will feature a separate maze, “The X-periment.” The Haunted Trail is a stroll through the park you will never forget. Enter the mile long Trail through the twisted grove of pines and gnarled oaks. Visitors watch your back, you’ll never know which way the terror will hit you. True to form, the Trail is not for children under 10 or the faint of heart.  Experience an outdoor terror that is simply too big to house indoors. For a few extra bones you can experience over 3500 square feet of freak infested terror by entering “The X-periment.”  The X-periment is a new maze at the Trail this season. Find out what happens when Mother Nature takes her eye off the ball for just a bit.  When the sun goes down since September 23rd through October 31st new scares invade.
