NEW YEARS EVE PARTY AT DON DIEGO POST
Don Diego Post Life Member Manuel Sanchez and Joe Garcia, are renting the Don Diego Hall to co – host this years well-planned and fun-filled New Years Eve celebration event. The cost is $ 15.00 per person. This entitles each attendee to Menudo, Tamales, Champagne, Party Hats, Whistles and Balloons. Various raffle items will also be offered. This exciting event will begin at 8:30 pm and entertain through 1:00 am. Contact Mr. Manuel Sanchez to purchase your New Years Eve tickets on a first come – first served basis. LOGAN HEIGHTS VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMITTEE – UPDATE
The Logan Heights Veterans Memorial Committee is alive and well. The final dedication is on track to take place during the early part of 2013. The specific date will be announced to the general public through both the community (LA PRENSA SAN DIEGO) newspaper and the Logan Heights Veterans Memorial website at www.LHVETERANSMEMORIAL.COM.

Veteran Memorial Liaison Frank Peralta is seeking photos of Logan Heights veterans, to be placed on the vet memorial photo website. He said if you have a father, brother, uncle, sister or niece, that served in the military, Frank Peralta would like to hear from you at (619) 988 – 1853.

VIETNAM VETERANS HOLD CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE TO ALL VETERANS
A number of Don Diego Post Vietnam Era combat veterans, hosted a “Salute and Toast Tribute” to ALL United States Veterans, in honor of their outstanding service and sacrifice each has endured by protecting our country and it’s many allies. Event held at Post Canteen on Thursday – December 20th, 2012 at 6:00 pm.

“MS. ESTHER PARK” AS VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY
Ms. Esther Park is a Don Diego Post Ladies Auxiliary member who served hospitalized veterans at the V.A. La Jolla hospital for (6) six years providing coffee to disable veterans. She also visits bedridden veterans.

Third Annual Holocaust Education Conference

The San Diego Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will host the Third Annual Holocaust Education Conference designed for middle and high school educators, administrators, and curriculum directors.

8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
University of San Diego Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice

This full-day conference will feature Echoes and Reflections – Holocaust education for 21st century classrooms, created by the ADL, The University of Southern California (USC) Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education, and Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Museum.

The keynote address will be delivered by Tiffony Jacobs from the Freedom Writers Foundation. Her experience is an excellent example of how Holocaust education taught by a great teacher can have a positive, life-changing impact on a student’s life.

The conference also features a presentation with Holocaust Survivor, Rose Schindler.

Northwest Civic Association Town Hall Meeting at the Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library Auditorium (4th & F Streets), Wednesday, January 9th at 6:00 p.m. Open Mic (Microphone) Night. Voice your concerns, kudos, and issues. Topics expected to include plans for a future university in Chula Vista, bayfront development, district elections, Third Avenue Streetscape status, business attraction to the city, & more.

NCTD ofrece traslados gratuitos y trenes nocturnos durante la festividad de Año Nuevo

Una festividad segura es prioritaria para la agencia.

Aconsejamos que los fiesteros que opten por la vía responsable para llegar a las festividades de Año Nuevo tomando los trenes y autobuses nocturnos gratuitos que ofrece North County Transit District.

No será necesario comprar boletos después de las 6 p.m. del 31 de dic. para viajar en los trenes COASTER y SPRINTER y en los autobuses BREEZE.

Para ayudar a los asistentes a viajar con seguridad desde y hacia las fiestas, NCTD incluirá un COASTER extra que partirá en dirección Sur desde el Centro de Tránsito de Oceanside a las 8:30 p.m. y llegará a la Estación Santa Fe, en el centro de San Diego, a las 9:30 p.m. Un tren nocturno extra partirá en dirección Norte desde el centro de San Diego a las 12:45 a.m. del 1ro de enero. Un SPRINTER extra partirá en dirección Este desde el Centro de Tránsito de Oceanside a las 2:03 a.m. para hacer conexión con el COASTER nocturno.

Para cumplir con lo decretado por el Distrito, solo se pueden consumir bebidas alcohólicas a bordo del COASTER y solo hasta las 9 p.m. Este decreto se hará cumplir durante las festividades de Año Nuevo.

NCTD nuevamente ofrece el servicio gratuito y extendido de Año Nuevo para promover celebraciones seguras y responsables en el Condado de San Diego. NCTD aconseja que organizadores de eventos y ediciones de entretenimiento incluyan información del servicio de transporte público gratuito en sus portales y demás publicaciones para evitar la conducción en estado de ebriedad.
