Uniformed officers and CVPAL community volunteers delivered food and toys to 262 underprivileged families living in Chula Vista. CVPAL members teamed up with members of the Chula Vista Welfare Council and Chula Vista Elementary School District to donate approximately $5000 in toys and food.
81 volunteers including uniformed officers and community members started delivering the wrapped gifts, boxes of food, and gift certificates. The volunteers operated from two staging areas including the Police Department and Otay Recreation Center on Main Street.
Chief David Bejarano, who led the effort, said “This continues to be a rewarding opportunity to help disadvantaged families get help during the holiday season. It’s also a great opportunity for officers to interact with community members in such a positive setting”.
The volunteers delivered wrapped gifts to 832 children, bringing smiles to all.
