Mayoral Candidates Round Table
Broadway Heights Community Council is personally inviting your Community Council and Community Members to joins us for our Mayoral Candidates Round Table. This is an important time for us.

1. The discussion will focus on the following concerns: Sustainable Living Through Natural Resources, Public Safety, Jobs, Affordable Housing, Neighborhood Development Projects, Streets Repairs, Neighborhood Policing, Water Rates, City Commissions, CIP Project, Youth Programs, Education
2. The format Each Candidate will be given 15 minutes at the beginning. Then questions and answers for attendees. Each Candidate will have a 2 min. wrap-up.
3. There will be random questions from the attendees.
Proposition B – District Elections in Chula Vista, the Arguments in Favor and Against
Northwest Civic Association’s next Community Meeting will be in the auditorium of the Chula Vista Civic Center Library (at 4th & F), Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. The topic will be ‘Proposition B – District Elections in Chula Vista’.
Councilmember Rudy Ramirez will discuss the Arguments in Favor and Mayor Cheryl Cox will discuss the Arguments Against the ballot measure. Currently, all Council members are elected “at large” – voted on by all citizens. The proposition on the ballot is to change the form of elections to “district” elections, whereby the city would be divided up geographically into smaller voting districts and that a council member would have to live in each district. Poll Workers Still Wanted for Several Neighborhoods
Poll workers are still in demand for the Nov. 6 Presidential General Election; especially those who are bilingual in Chinese, Filipino, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Poll workers receive a stipend ranging from $75 to $175 depending on the assignment and those who are bilingual receive an additional $15 if they are assigned to provide language assistance to voters.
Poll workers must be U.S. citizens, registered voters in the State of California and have transportation to their assigned polling location. Depending on the job assignment, they may also need access to the internet to complete an online training and attend a two-hour class.
