This Kwanzaa, come celebrate the principle of Self-Determination; Defining ourselves, naming ourselves, creating for ourselves, and speaking for ourselves, in our past, present, and future. The even-ing will feature traditional drum call, lighting of kinara, libation, live African music & dance, and FREE vegetarian Soul food! Celebrate the principle of collective work & responsibility – that we may build and maintain our communities & families together! Ceremonial lighting of kinara, libations, live music & dance, and delicious Vegetarian feast! Music & Dance Program by: Omo Aché. This live celebration of music and dance will take you on a journey through the lands of the Yoruba, Arará (Dahome), & Bantu (Congo & Franco-Haitian)!

San Diego Civic Youth Ballet Brings The Nutcracker to Balboa Park
WHO: San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, the resident classical ballet school of Balboa Park since 1945.
WHAT: San Diego Civic Youth Ballet’s annual production of the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker.
WHERE: The historic Casa del Prado Theatre located in the cultural heart of Balboa Park at 1800 Village Place, San Diego, CA, 92102. The theatre is adjacent to the Casa del Prado Building and near Spanish Village and The Natural History Museum.
WHEN: Shows run from December 9th, 2012 through December 22nd, 2012.

Mr. Scrooge and Mr. Dickens Live Theatre Fundraiser Event in Escondido
Come see the theatrical production, Mr. Scrooge & Mr. Dickens, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic, “A Christmas Carol” which is sure to be a treat for the entire family. Choose from six exciting shows including two matinee and four evening productions. The matinee show will be at 4 pm on Saturday, December 22. The evening shows will be at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday, December 21, and 22. Priced for the entire community, the matinee shows are donation only, and the evening shows are just $7 adults/$5 children under 12 and seniors 60 and older. Local high school string quartet joins touring Beatles and Stones tribute show
When the touring show Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Shoot Out returns to Anthology on December 26, the Mira Mesa High School String Quartet will have the privilege of joining the tribute musicians on stage to add some orchestral texture to the evening.
The show pits Rolling Stones tribute band Jumping Jack Flash against rival Brit boys Abbey Road in an all-out musical showdown for rock dominance. The high school string quartet will perform four ballads during the show.
Who was the greatest rock band of all time – the Beatles or Rolling Stones? “Abbey Road” and “Jumping Jack Flash” perform Wednesday, December 26 at 7:30 pm at Anthology 1337 India Street, San Diego 92101. Tickets are $10 – $29 and may be purchased at www.anthologysd.com.
Rare Coin Roadshow Event, Free in Mission Valley
WHAT: Free rare coin road-show event. Open to the public. This is for anyone who has rare coins and would like an informal Auction Estimate. Limit three coins per person.
