“Firefighters Pancake Breakfast and Raffle”

The National City Fire-fighters are hosting their annual pancake breakfast and raffle Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at Fire Station #34 (343 East 16th Street, National City). Proceeds from the breakfast and raffle will benefit the National City Spirit of the Holidays program.

Firefighters will be accepting donations of $5 per person to attend the breakfast.

Spirit of the Holidays’ program mission is to serve the families and children of National City who are in need of support in the way of food and gifts during the holiday season. Spirit of the Holiday volunteers believe that by assisting disadvantaged individuals, the community demonstrates that it cares for each an every person who resides in the city regardless of their personal circumstances.

Viejas Outlets Kicks off the Holiday Shopping Season with Late-night Store Hours and an Outdoor Ice Rink

The Viejas Outlets will officially kick off the holiday season Friday, November 16 with the Grand Opening of Southern California’s largest outdoor ice rink, as well as special late-night store hours and promotions.

The Viejas Outlets’ ice rink has quickly grown to become one the most popular holiday traditions in Southern California, with more than 33,000 visitors lacing up their skates on the nearly 10,000 square foot rink last season. The ice rink will be open thru January 6, 2013, with reduced pricing for groups, seniors and military. The ice rink and the 45 stores at Viejas Outlets will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight on November 16. During those special hours, $6,000 in Viejas Outlets Gift Cards will be given away to randomly-selected shoppers. Continuing the holiday spirit, Viejas Outlets will extend the same late night store hours (6 p.m. to midnight) and $6,000 gift card giveaway on Thanksgiving Day, November 22…allowing shoppers to get a jump on their traditional Black Friday shopping plans.

MiraCosta College Presents Film ‘Pancho Gonzalez: Warrior of the Court’

MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus is proud to host a free screening of the film “Pancho Gonzalez: Warrior of the Court” on Friday, November 30, at 5:30 p.m.

Richard Alonzo “Pancho” Gonzalez was a Mexican-American with no formal tennis training who fought to pursue his dream. Breaking color and class barriers, he dominated the sport of tennis as one of the top ten players in the world for an amazing 21 years. He ultimately played one of the longest Wimbledon matches in history.

The evening will feature a guest appearance by the film’s director, Danny Haro.

MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus is located at 3333 Manchester Avenue in Cardiff. The event will be held in the college Student Center Conference Room.

SouthWest Civic Association to Honor Councilman Castaneda

Come for SWCVCA”s November meeting at 6:30PM on Thursday November 29 TO the South Chula Vista Library, 389 Orange, room B, which is the entrance near 4th Ave.
