Movies in the Park: Moneyball at :Little Padres Field in National City

National City will continue its summer Movies in the Park series with a special free showing of the movie “Moneyball” at the Little Padres Field on Friday, Sept. 14. The event begins at 7 p.m. with the film starting at dusk. Little Padres Field is located at 1300 A Ave. in National City within Kimball Park.

Based on a true story, Moneyball stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s, who uses unconventional methods to bring the best players to the struggling team.

Open to the public, guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chair, blanket and refreshments. The movie will be shown in high-quality digital format on a giant 28-foot wide screen.

22 Bands Performing Live at Mission Bay, September 14-16, as part of San Diego Bayfair

Twenty-two bands will be performing live at San Diego Bayfair on Mission Bay and for the first time the concert venue will be free to the public. The bands are part of the three-day family fun festival and boat-racing competition that starts September 14.

Whether you like rock, hip-hop or reggae music, chances are there is a band playing that fits your taste. Each band will play a 45-minute set, showcasing their best songs for the thousands of fans on East Vacation Island.

The vendor village is free to the general public. To view the on-water boat races requires paid admission.

Music starts at 1 p.m. and goes well into the evening on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s shows start at 10 a.m. and wrap at 3 p.m.

El Festival de Tequila Más Grande de Norteamérica Invadirá Old Town San Diego del 9 al 15 de Septiembre

En el Festival Spirits of Mexico, se exhibirán cientos de los destilados de agave más finos, singulares y costosos del mundo, cuando este festival regresa a Old Town, San Diego, del 9 al 15 de septiembre. Al celebrar su noveno año, el Festival Spirits of Mexico ha crecido hasta convertirse en el evento de degustación más grande y prestigioso de bebidas espirituosas de agave en Norteamerica.

El programa del Festival Spirits of Mexico 2012 es el siguiente:

• 9 de sept. Ruta del Tequila. Los visitantes podrán degustar selectos tequilas, sotoles, mezcales, bacanoras y otras bebidas espirituosas mexicanas, así como saborear las especialidades culinarias de doce célebres restaurantes de Old Town, de 3 a 6 P.M. Los boletos cuestan $35.

• 10 y 11 de sept. Competencia de Cata Spirits of Mexico. Un panel de expertos de la industria reconocidos internacionalmente seleccionará las marcas de bebidas espirituosa, que se llevarán las codiciadas medallas ‘Best of’, de Oro, Plata y Bronce.

• 14 de sept. Cena de premiación y Recepción con Degustación.
