Public Input Needed for Potential District Elections in Chula Vista

The Charter Review Commission is seeking public input regarding a potential change to

Chula Vista’s election system. City Councilmembers are currently elected through an “at-large” system; the City Council is considering placing a charter amendment on the ballot to switch to a “district” system. A second public meeting has been scheduled; the first meeting was January 3. The Charter Review Commission is preparing a recommendation to the City Council on this matter and is soliciting public comment, which can be provided one of three ways:

• Attend a second public outreach session on Monday, January 9 at Veterans Park Recreation Center, 785 E. Palomar Street, at 7 p.m.

• Visit the Commission’s webpage and complete the survey at: www.chulavistaca.gov/goto/cityattorney/CRC; or

• Send an e-mail to: cityattorney@chulavistaca.gov. Your e-mail will be forwarded to the Charter Review Commission.

The deadline to submit the survey answers or send an email about district elections is January 17, 2012. The Charter Review Commission will report the results to the City Council in mid-February.
