This new musical partnership was born after the involvement of both in the first version of the festival Lollapalloza Chile. Which led to the recording inArgentinaof their first CD “WELCOME TO THE RITMO MACHINE.” It was released this month by the record Nacional Records in the U.S., Argentina, Japan and Europe, among others.

The album features guests such as Sen Dog (Cypress Hil), Money Mark & Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), P-Nut (311) and Sick Jacken (Psycho Realm). In addition, the participation of the Chilean artist Ana Tijoux.

Bobo’s career, which has a solo album called the Minds Meetings (Nacional Records, 2008), began a love for Latin rhythms inherited from his father, Willie Bobo boricua (Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, Perez Prado, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock). “I started playing with my father at age five and went with him to 15, with various jazz clubs tours, that allowed me to meet musicians and producers from other genres such as hip hop,” he recalls.

Former member of the Beastie Boys and since 1994 member of Cypress Hill, Bobo worked with Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Ella Fitzgerald, Soulfly, 311, The Black Crowes and up Calle 13, among others. “I was with the Beastie Boys from 1992 to 1995, was a definitive experience in my career. Rage is another story again opened many doors for me both professionally and growing as an artist.”

For Bobo, the importance of having a broad musical knowledge allows you to be open to different sounds and melodies, so you can play with different musicians. “The first records I found were from Tito Puente and Mongo Santamaria to Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Van Halen and then came Led Zeppelin. It was a great mix of music that helped me be able to play with different types of musicians and genres, and not stay stuck in one style,” he says.
