Celebrando y cumpliendo la Misión

    La Iglesia Metodista Unida de Chula Vista esta celebrando 100 años de Misión y Servicio en la ciudad de Chula Vista. Esta congregación ha estado ubicada en tres diferentes sitios en la ciudad a lo largo de los 100 años. Actualmente en la calle East “H” esquina con Paseo Ranchero en el lado Este de la ciudad.

    Mientras celebramos el pasado, reafirmamos el presente y la Misión que tenemos de ser una parte de la Iglesia de Jesucristo aquí en la tierra. En la tradición Metodista la Misión implica “ir por todo el mundo” y compartir el mensaje de Dios en Palabra y en hechos y nosotros como Iglesia ubicada en Chula Vista, en dos idiomas.

    Como parte del replantear el futuro y añadiéndose a la celebración de la Congregación en Español nuestra Iglesia ve con esperanza el nuevo proyecto de relanzar actividades en el área oeste del “805”  y así extender el mensaje de Dios a más personas en dos idiomas.

    Les invitamos a celebrar con nosotros este domingo 18 de Septiembre a las 11:00 AM en un Servicio de Acción de Gracias y conocer los planes de extender la obra “por todo el mundo” comenzando en nuestra comunidad. Tendremos comida al terminar la Reunión de Celebración y Ud. está invitado.

Neighborhood House Launches Second Annual Health Fair

    WHAT:  The Neighborhood House Association’s (NHA) Head Start Program is hosting the Second Annual Health Fair in collaboration with San Ysidro Health Center. Children and the community will be able to receive medical screenings and obtain important medical information with regards to health, nutrition, insurance information and much more.

    WHERE:   Euclid Medical Center, 286 Euclid Ave., San Diego, CA 92114
    WHEN:  Saturday, September 17, 2011, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

    WHY: As part of NHA’s commitment to build strong families and healthy communities in San Diego, the Health Fair will offer free health and medical information to the public as well as health exams such as vision and hearing screenings, lead testing, blood pressure testing, dental check-ups and much more.

The Brazilian Day San Diego 2011

    The first weeks of September had been very busy for Brazilians who live abroad. Every year, thousands of Brazilians in the U.S take their Brazilian national team shirts from their wardrobes, paint their faces and expose the country’s flag on their cars to take to the streets around the United States to celebrate the Brazilian Independence Day.

    The “Brazilian Day San Diego” is held since 2008 the Sunday after the “Labor Day”. But in 2011, as a result of the date being 9/11, this year’s event will happen on Sunday 18th and as usual, from 11am to 7pm on Garnet Street in the heart of Pacific Beach.

    The Brazilian Day San Diego is a free event for the whole family and this year’s theme is “Green & Growing… Responsibly”. The event attracts thousands of lovers of Brazilian culture searching for free fun under the sun!

    The main stage “Aquarela do Brasil” measures 32ft X 24ft and has its space reserved for attractions from Brazil and local Brazilians artists. Direct from Brazil, it’s already confirmed that the singers Pepeu Gomes (Rio de Janeiro) and Tonho Materia (from Bahia and former singer of group Olodum) are to perform – Brothers of Brazil from Sao Paulo and Andre Rio and his band from Recife is to be confirmed). Among the Brazilian artists living in U.S, Mariano Silva & Prakantar Band and the dance group Hip Brazil (Santa Barbara); Dances group Sambaxe, CaribelinQ and Tropicaleiza; Singer GuFidelis, L.A. Samba School, dance groups Raiz Brazil and Gisella Sambista & Capoeira Batuqule; Sininho Samba Show, LIL Brazil Family, Sol e Mar Samba School and Super Sonics Samba School .

    Brazilian Day San Diego 2011 will be held on Garnet St., Sun Sept 18th from 11am to 7pm.
