COMMUNITY NOTES:

Proposition X Citizens’ Oversight Committee to Fill Vacancy
South Bay Union School District seeks community representative

The South Bay Union School District (SBUSD) is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving as a community-at-large representative on its Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC). The committee oversees the expenditure of Prop X, the $59.4 million school safety and repair bond currently modernizing the District’s schools. Applicants must reside within the boundaries of the District to be eligible for consideration.

The Prop X COC has a firsthand role in monitoring and publicly reporting on the performance of the program and construction quality. The committee also communicates its findings to the Dis-trict’s Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis to ensure that funds are invested as the voters intended and that projects are completed efficiently.    Individuals interested in serving on the Prop X COC should visit www.buildingpropx.com to download an application. Applications are due on Friday, May 27, 2011 by 5:00 p.m. For more information call Devonna Almagro, Prop X Outreach Manager, at (619) 838.6866.
