Costco to host book signing on December 4th, noon – 2 p.m.
The heartwarming story of the Little League team from Chula Vista, California that became the 2009 Little League World Series champions is now available in a new book from San Diego authors Mike Ford and Wade Lindenberger entitled The Blue Bombers: The True Story of the 2009 Little League World Champions. Dubbed “The Blue Bombers” because of their baby blue uniforms and record-breaking home run prowess, the team won the hearts of fans of all ages as they prevailed in game after game to achieve the pinnacle of youth baseball, a world championship.
To celebrate, Costco Rancho del Rey at 895 East H Street in Chula Vista is hosting a book signing on December 4, 2010 from noon to 2 p.m. Blue Bomber players and the authors will be on hand to meet the public and answer questions about the team. Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the team’s league, Park View Little League.
Written in an easy to read style, The Blue Bombers: The True Story of the 2009 Little League World Champions is suitable for pre-teen readers as well as adults. The book is the perfect holiday gift for baseball fans of most ages.
Filled with profiles of the team and interviews with opposing managers, fans, family and many others, The Blue Bombers: The True Story of the 2009 Little League World Champions chronicles the Park View players and their parents and coaches. By telling the story of the team in first person accounts and action-filled recaps of games and pivotal moments, the authors capture the essence of what made this team so great.
The book showcases the ability of the Park View kids to stay grounded with the support of strong families and an adoring community, plus the guidance of compassionate and caring coaches whose philosophy was to make sure the concepts of team, hard work and fun did not get lost in the run for the crown. By keeping the players loose yet focused and always putting the best interests of the kids and their families first, the coaches, families and other supporters helped the Blue Bombers find a recipe for success. The same guidance that kept the team level-headed during the Little League World Series carried them through the post-championship hoopla that included appearances on The Tonight Show, rallies attended by tens of thousands of adoring fans and a visit to the White House.
The book includes a forward by San Diego broadcaster and former Charger Billy Ray Smith and endorsements by comedian and actor George Lopez, 1961 El Cajon Northern Little League World Champion and former NFL MVP Brian Sipe and San Diego Padre President Tom Garfinkel.
