MANA de San Diego está celebrando la educación, el liderazgo y la participación comunitaria en el evento de este año, BRINDIS – Gala de Becas de MANA de San Diego, donde 24 mujeres de la localidad recibirán ¡becas escolares por un total de $25,000!
Conoce a estas audaces mujeres que han hecho una diferencia en sus comunidades al convertirse en las doctoras, enfermeras, abogadas y profesoras del mañana. Escucha sus impactantes y extraordinarias historias de adversidad y supervivencia. Las ganadoras ven hacia el futuro con apoyo moral y financiero a través del programa de becas Sylvia Chavez Memorial de MANA de San Diego. Su objetivo es obtener, ya sea un título de Licenciatura, Maestría o Doctorado en el área de su elección.

House of Mexico Host a Baja Wine Tour to raise funds to build a house in Balboa Park
House of Mexico, a local non profit, whose goal is build a house in Balboa Park, will organize a Baja Wine Tour to the Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California Mexico on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from Central San Diego and Chula Vista areas to raise funds for their goal. The Baja Wine Tour encompasses a full day visit to three award winning wineries and lunch in the valley with an onboard discussion on the region.
House of Mexico’s goal is to bring about 80 people to this tour. The tour will be traveling through safe motorcoach transportation across the border to Mexico. All participants are required to have valid paperwork to re-enter into the USA. The costs are minimal with the wine and culinary experience that all participants will have on the tour. “The tour will be a sell out! All participants will have an extraordinary experience on board the tour which encompasses Baja’s cuisines, wine and culture!”

South Bay Homeownership Resource Fair June 26
Looking to purchase a home? Want to make improvements to your current residence? Having trouble making mortgage payments? Visit the free South Bay Homeowner-ship Resource Fair at Chula Vista City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue on Saturday, June 26. The event, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is sponsored by the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) and the Housing Opportunities Collaborative (HOC). Potential homebuyers and existing homeowners will have access to valuable information and programs to purchase or improve their residence. In addition to the City of Chula Vista, participants include the County of San Diego, National City, Imperial Beach and the San Diego Housing Commission (City of San Diego).
Educational workshops will be held throughout the day providing information on preparing for homeownership, available first-time homebuyer programs, sustaining homeownership through conservation measures and assistance programs, and the short sale and foreclosure process. Vendors will include lenders, realtors, title/escrow, homeowners insurance, and information will be available on rehabilitation programs, utility assistance programs, appliance rebates, and energy conservation ideas.
