TEZOZOMOC SPEAKS

First the good news: Chef Marcela Valladolid, (see frontpage story) got a major boost from La Prensa San Diego. Food Network called el jefe de La Prensa and asked if he new of any chefs for an upcoming Bobby Flay segement in San Diego and he recommended Ms Valladolid. Of course, from there it was all Ms Valladolid who impressed the network so much … well she has her own show now. Guess it pays to know La Prensa!!!

Hijole, we haven’t seen this much rain in a very long time. It must be the angels crying after that horrible loss the Chargers took last week, it has been raining ever since. The only way the Chargers could have lost was if they beat themselves, which is exactly what they did…. Qué lástima!!!

Worst part of the Charger’s loss is all week long now we have to hear about how great the Jets are… please… they are good and all that but they are not Super Bowl worthy. Then again neither are the Chargers

So they city manager of the National City hires his boss, city councilman Frank Parra to run a city department including the fire department… doesn’t anybody see anything wrong with this at all???? Haven’t heard a word questioning this cozy arrangement. Este Indio sees so much wrong with this it’s hard to know where to start… How about the fact, apparently, he is not qualified to run the fire department outright that they had to create a new department for Frank to run??? Does Parra have the qualifications and education to run a department???

What of the conflict of interest questions?? National City, city council and the civil services have to confirm this hiring. It will be interesting, civil service members are appointed by the city council… conflict of interest and the city council approval of a sitting councilman… conflict of interest.

We could go on the Frank Parra hiring but if National City doesn’t care….

Juan Vargas is out campaigning for the State Senate 40th District, against Assemblywoman Mary Salas, so far it has sort of a stealth campaign, a Christmas card and at least one debate other than that hardly a peep out of Vargas camp. Oh by the way Vargas was questioned about his close ties with the Insurance Companies… this will be an ongoing issue for Vargas, he didn’t come out smelling like a rose during Cedar fires siding with the insurance companies over the homeowners who lost their homes in the fire.
