Pumpkin Patch Storytimes at the Oceanside Public Library

 It’s the time of year again for the Oceanside Public Library’s annual Pumpkin Patch story-times. The Pumpkin Patch programs will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Library and on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mission Branch Library. These special holiday storytimes will include fun, non-scary Halloween tales, songs and treats. All Pumpkin Patch storytimes are free and are geared for children seven years old and younger. Fall Fun for Everyone at City Rec Centers this Halloween

 Experience some fall festivities this season by attending the exciting events offered at several of Chula Vista’s recreation centers. Children, teens, parents and senior citizens can enjoy a variety of creative activities at little or no cost. The schedule includes a Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Day, Little Tikes Costume Carnival, and Family Movie Night at Montevalle Recreation Center; Fall Fest and Monster Bash Teen Dance at Loma Verde Recreation Center and even more Halloween fun at the Norman Park Center.

 Halloween Fun,. Oct 21: Guests of the Norman Park Center can enjoy an afternoon of Halloween crafts and spooktacular; refreshments beginning at 10 a.m. Event is free of charge. Located at 270 F St. For information call (619) 691-5086.

 Ghostly Greetings to Norman Park Women, Oct 22: Join the members and staff of Norman Park Center at 11 a.m. for lunch followed by a movie and the “Transylvanian Best-Dressed” contest with no cost to participate.

 Little Tikes Costume Carnival Oct 25: Come enjoy a night of costume fun with your little ones ages 6 and under at the Montevalle Community Center. Start time is 5:30 p.m. and a children’s themed movie will be shown throughout the carnival. Plans include arts and crafts, picture taking, and a flashlight candy hunt to get everyone involved in the fun. Please register early as space is limited. Fee is $6 for residents and $7 for non-residents. The center is located at 840 Duncan Ranch Rd.

 Monster Bash Teen Dance, Oct 30: Middle and high school students ages 13-18 can dance all night from 8-11 p.m. A live DJ will be spinning the best hip-hop and top 40 music.  Fall Fest, Oct 30: There is so much to do at the Loma Verde Center’s autumn festival this year and it’s all free of charge! The Haunted Hotel is Now Open Through Halloween!

hotel The doors to the Haunted Hotel have creaked open for the 2009 Halloween kicking off the Haunted Hotel’s 17th season. The Haunted Hotel is the longest running haunted house in San Diego and was voted by Haunt World Magazine as one of the top 13 haunted houses in America. The horror filled nights run through Halloween night. Experience adrenaline pumping scares in the Freddy Doll house, the Subway, the Crazy Clown Asylum, and the all new Hellevator!

 Hours are: Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday 6pm to 1am. (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays except for October 26th and 27th)

The Haunted Trail in Balboa Park is Now Open!

 Located in the world famous Balboa Park, The Haunted Trail is San Diego’s only all

outdoor haunted attraction. The Haunted Trail is a stroll through the park you will never forget. Enter the mile long Trail through the twisted grove of pines and gnarled oaks. Visitors watch your back, you’ll never know which way the terror will hit you. True to form, the Haunted Trail is not for children under 10 or the faint of heart.
