Salsa and mambo rock the Queen Mary Jan. 22-23 at its first annual Salsa weekend

LONG BEACH, CA — The Queen Mary will host an unforgettable weekend of salsa dance competitions, performances, workshops and expo Jan. 22 to 23 with something for beginners through advanced salsa dancers. The fiesta starts Friday at 7 p.m. and will keep dancers swinging to the fiery beats until 2 a.m.  Guests can show-off their skills in the Jack and Jill dance competition preliminaries at 10 p.m. as well as enjoy refreshments and dance to high-energy classic mambo rhythms performed by Lucky 7.

On Saturday, the Exhibit Hall will be open from 10a.m. showcasing salsa merchandise and offering 16 workshops such as Sexy Salsa Moves and Afro Samba until 5 p.m.  In the evening, the dance floor will heat up again at 7 p.m. for the Saturday night party, featuring the dance contest finals at 10 p.m. and live music by Angel Lebron and his band starting at 11 p.m. For true salsa aficionados, DJ Mambo T will provide music for dancing both nights until 2 a.m.
