The San Diego Sockers’ 2011-2012 PASL-Pro schedule was announced on Tuesday morning, featuring a season-opening home-and-home contest with the expansion Anaheim Bolts. The season will begin on November 12th at the Anaheim Convention Center, as the Sockers take on the Bolts in their inaugural PASL-Pro game. One week later, November 19th, the two teams will meet again at the Del Mar Arena in the Sockers’ 7:05pm home opener.
The Sockers, who went 19-2 on route to their second consecutive PASL-Pro Championship and twelfth major indoor title, will host Anaheim, Tijuana, Phoenix, California, Tacoma and Chicago, as well as a U.S. Open Cup opponent yet to be determined, on their nine-game home schedule at the Del Mar Arena.
“The PASL-Pro is growing and getting better year by year,” said Sockers general manager John Kentera in reaction to the schedule’ release, “We look forward to creating new rivalries with Anaheim and Phoenix which we think our fans will enjoy.”
San Diego’s road schedule includes Western Divison trips to Anaheim, Tijuana (twice), Phoenix (twice) ,Tacoma and California, as a trip to the Windy City to face the Chicago Riot, who moved from the MISL to join the PASL-Pro this season. In addition, the Sockers will square off against teams from Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rapido in a tournament February 3rd-4th in Monterrey, Mexico.
The PASL-Pro Finals will be held at the Del Mar Arena this season, with the semifinals on March 9th and the league championship game on March 10th.
“As usual, our schedule includes a number of travel challenges and there will be no easy stops,” said Kentera, “We are excited about separating the international games from our league championship. We hope to represent the PASL-Pro well in Monterrey, but our overall goal is to hang another championship banner at Del Mar Arena.”
The Sockers will reveal their twelfth championship banner and the players will receive their new rings in ceremonies prior to the home opener on November 19th.
