Deportation, Family Love, and Love Across Borders
are focus of student-produced one-acts at San Diego Mesa College
Three one-act plays written, produced and performed in Spanish by college students will be showcased on Friday, December 9at 7:30 p.m. at the Apolliad Theatre at San Diego Mesa College campus in Kearny Mesa. The production is the only annual opportunity to see Spanish theatre in San Diego.
“Corazones rotos” presents vignettes of broken hearts in contemporary Latin American society. Three short plays feature a love story set against deportation, the story of a family of an Argentina footballer, and how passion and love ignites in a fiery artistic-inspired play.
This annual fall student performance premiered in 2009. The plays are written and performed by the advanced Spanish language honors students and produced by theatrical design majors. Guidance is provided by Spanish Professor Dora Schoenbrun-Fernandez and Drama Professor John Polak, and with the cooperation and help from the Mesa College Theatre Company.
