For three quarters last Saturday the outcome of San Diego State’s football game against Washington State University was very much in doubt. The Aztec offense was erratic in the first half with a passing game that was often out of sync. The running game wasn’t much better as it struggled against a tough Cougars defense. The defense was torched by some big plays including a 80-yard touchdown on the Cougars first play from scrimmage.

Would running back Ronnie Hillman avoid the sophomore jinx and continue to be as productive in powering the ground game? Can any of the new crop of receivers get open and catch the ball? Will the multiple tight end formations create frequent mismatches? Can the defense and special teams be counted on?
