<p>A proposed state law would ban future tobacco sales to anyone born after 2006 but, for now, spares the growing legal marijuana industry.</p>

<p>The bill, Assembly Bill 935 by Assemblyman Damon Connolly, D-San Rafael, would ban all future tobacco product sales to anyone born after January 1, 2007, meaning that someone 16- or 17 years-old today would never be able to purchase tobacco in California in their lifetime.</p>

<p>The City of San Diego will soon allow permanent restaurant outdoor seating that has become popular during the COVID pandemic.</p>

<p>The San Diego City Council approved the “Spaces as Places” plan that will allow permanent outdoor seating for restaurants on streets with speed limits of 30 miles per hour or lower. Eateries in coastal areas will need additional approval from the State Coastal Commission.</p>

<p>Daily COVID-19 case numbers dropped again on Sunday but a shortage of vaccines forced the shutdown of a super station location at downtown’s Petco Park stadium parking lot.</p>
<p>Sunday’s new case count was 568 new cases and 488 deaths, a lower rate than in previous weeks when daily number topped 1,000 per day. The County reported 13,400 tests on Sunday with a positive rate of only 4%. Hospitalization were up by 27 patients and four infected individuals were admitted into UCI beds.</p>
