All the votes have been counted from the June 8th primary, with the exception of the Mary Salas/Juan Vargas race which will be in the courts today (Friday). Over 12,563 votes were either sent in late, or not properly picked-up on time. Vargas leads Salas by 12 votes. Whether these votes are counted or not will probably result in a recount.

<p> As we prepare to get arrested as a result of the passage of a new anti-ethnic studies law in Arizona, several attorneys explain to about 30 of us in Tucson’s state building the consequences of getting arrested. As such, the numbers are winnowed down to about half due to legal reasons such as parental authorization and age. Many of those making these decisions are middle, high school and college students.</p>

In an interesting turn of events, President Obama went from there is little desire to tackle immigration reform to when he came out in favor of immigration reform and for that to take place as soon as possible.
