Washington (CNN) — The U.S. Supreme Court ruled largely in favor of the federal government Monday in a case involvingArizona’s immigration law, but it upheld the most controversial provision involving police checks on people’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

Latino media outlets across the state will halt regular programming on Wednesday to inform their audiences about the implications of Senate Bill 1070, even though the U.S. Supreme Court won’t release its ruling on the tough immigration law until Thursday at the earliest.
