<p>A new study reviewing COVID-19 deaths shows that a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats died from the illness after vaccines became available last year.</p>

<p>The San Diego region’s unemployment rate came in lower than expected in November, falling to 4.6% from 5.3% in October, and more than two points lower than the predicted rate of 6.8% set last year.</p>

<p>The new figures were released this week by the California Economic Development Department (EDD) which showed that the overall unemployment rate for the state fell from 7.3% to 6.9%, the lowest rate since the COVID pandemic began in March 2020.</p>

<p>The San Diego City Council today passed a vaccinate mandate as a condition of employment to take effect on December 1st, while still allowing for case-by-case religious or medical exemptions.</p>

<p>All but one Councilmember voted to approve the mandate put forward by Mayor Todd Gloria to help protect employees and the public from the COVID virus that caused a worldwide pandemic over the past year and a half. Councilman Chris Cate, the sole Republican on the Council, voted against the mandate.</p>
