<p>Mid-Term elections will be held on Nov 4. Mail ballots will be sent out the first week of October.</p>
<p>This year the focus is on the Sweetwater Union High School District races which will usher in several first for the district and the community.</p>

<p>It was a crisp night in Chula Vista as El Chavira stood looking out into the city that he calls home, a diverse community of both means and poverty- a landscape that divides not only people of color but also those with, and without, wealth.</p>
<p>Wealth, being the manipulator, El Gran, in terms of power and position and this is where our story begins.</p>

<p>None of the four current trustees in the Sweetwater Union High School District board lives west of Interstate 805. The western part of the large middle and high school district hasn’t been properly represented in the past, according to community members. Instead, many of the board members have come from the affluent communities of Bonita and Eastlake, something that has led to the western and southern parts of the district to be neglected.</p>
