<p>Many will ask what is the purpose of commemorating the Chicano Moratorium each year in August. The original National Chicano Moratorium march and protest against the Vietnam War was held in East Los Angeles on August 29, 1970. Two previous smaller marches took place in L.A. in order to organize for the larger August 29, 1970, national march. Other build-up marches were also organized in San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno and other cities.</p>

The fitness exercise pilates, from my limited understanding of the exercise method, works on the principle of developing “a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance.” The principle fascinates me because it can be applied to almost any endeavor.
