<p>The Escondido Union School District (EUSD) has found a way to promote STEM education to their students, by developing high quality teacher training and support for planning and implementing instruction.<br>
The California Math Science Partnership Grant has provided $500,000 per year to EUSD for a length of three years, with the purpose of promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education as well as college and career interest in students, especially those underrepresented in STEM fields of study.<br>

<p>The Avant Garde Music Company, a space created for the community’s next generation of up and coming artists, is set to open in Chula Vista soon.</p>
<p>Avant Garde intends to cultivate creativity, community, and to offer workshops, private lessons, performance assembles, songwriting courses, and a multi media program.</p>

<p>The fatal shooting of an unarmed man by a police officer in El Cajon has drawn national attention and local protests.<br>
An El Cajon Police officer shot and killed Alfred Olango on Tuesday afternoon after officers responded to a 911 call about a man walking in traffic and acting erratically.<br>
According to El Cajon Police Chief Jeff Davis, when police officers arrived and confronted Olango, 38, he refused to show his hands and then quickly drew an object from his pants using both hands.<br>

<p>A documentary about the San Ysidro McDonald’s&nbsp;Massacre, a mass shooting that happened on July 18, 1984, that took the lives of 21 people and injured another 20, premiered at The Front Gallery at Casa Familiar, on Thursday, September 22.</p>
<p>This film called “77 minutes” which refers to the time it took police to take down the shooter, gives a comprehensive look of what happened inside the fast food restaurant 32 years ago.</p>
