    City Hall was transformed into “Kiddie Hall” on Tuesday, May 3 as school children from throughout San Diego were honored for their creative expressions about water conservation through the City’s annual poster contest and to kick off “Water Awareness Month.” The City of San Diego is recognizing Water Awareness Month throughout May and is inviting San Diegans to learn more about water, tap into City resources and participate in a series of fun and educational events.

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Logan Heights Branch Library will host a grand opening event of the SDSU Chicana/o Archive Project Exhibit:&nbsp; on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room. The bilingual exhibit is the result of four years of work by a committee of dedicated community activists, librarians, faculty, students and administrators and celebrates San Diego’s Chicana/o community and movement.</p>

41st Annual Chicano Park Day Celebration
Saturday, April 23, 2011 – 10am to 5pm

    The 41st annual Chicano Park Day celebration is this Saturday, April 23, 2011, in historic Chicano Park, located in the Barrio Logan community, south of downtown San Diego, under the San Diego-Coronado bridge. This family event is always free and open to the public.

    The theme for the 41st anniversary celebration is “Education and Knowledge: Our Key to a Better Future.”

Community Development Scholarship For Sweetwater High School Students

    In order to increase access to higher education, the National City Chamber of Commerce has developed a scholarship program for Sweetwater High School Students interested in Community Development. The goal is to administer at least one scholarship per year to high achieving juniors and seniors with an academic GPA of at least 2.9, who are in need of financial assistance.
