<p>For the first time ever, all of the City of San Diego’s elected officials are Democrats after a new Councilman was sworn-in Monday morning to replace the last remaining Republican in office.</p>

<p>San Diego voters received a campaign mail piece over the weekend supporting a November ballot measure related to trash collection in the City, but the mailer does not explain that passage of the measure would allow the City to create a new trash service tax on most single-family households.</p>

<p>A San Diego state senator raised contributions for a prospective campaign from tobacco and energy companies, but later unceremoniously closed his campaign committee after passing some of the funds to another local candidate in a special election.</p>

<p>Someone is using a four-year-old recording of President Barack Obama to deceive voters into thinking the former president has endorsed a candidate in this year’s race for Mayor of Chula Vista, but neither the candidate nor two independent committees supporting him are claiming responsibility for the calls.</p>
