En honor de la sangre indígena que tengo como mestiza y como Mexico-Americana, me siento obligada a examinar esta importante celebración que es de hecho un día de fiesta nacional en los Estados Unidos.

<p>In a milestone of sorts, the North American Development Bank (NADB) recently exceeded the billion dollar mark in financing projects for the US-Mexico border region. Chartered as a result of the environmental side agreement to the North American Free Trade Agreement, the NADB provides loans and grants to both US and Mexican communities.</p>

<p><strong>NEW YORK</strong><strong> </strong>— Organizers described them as immigration reform “house parties.”</p>
<p>Across the country recently, in churches, schools, immigrant support centers and private homes, backers of immigration reform gathered around telephones (the speaker phone turning the device into a de-facto radio) as Hispanic U.S. legislators laid out the strategy for pushing a reform of the immigration system in 2010.</p>

<p>Hispanic lawmakers in Washington are blaming the political fallout over a Republican Congressman’s infamous outburst in September for the provision in the newly proposed Senate health care bill seeking to block participation of illegal immigrants.</p>

<p>California may be a beacon of diversity, with Asians, Latinos and African Americans comprising the majority. But when it comes to its nonprofit sector, that racial and ethnic diversity is not reflected, and Latinos are especially underrepresented, according to a recent study.</p>

<p>Health care providers and advocates on both sides of the border recently celebrated “Binational Health Week,” one of the largest mobilization efforts to improve the health and well being of the underserved Latino population living in the United States.</p>
