<p>A secret committee of local fire and police chiefs postponed its December meeting just minutes before it was to start after La Prensa San Diego filed a lawsuit claiming the group’s meetings violate state open meeting laws.</p>
<p>The group, called the Urban Area Working Group (UAWG), is the “Approving Authority” recognized by the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to distribute funding to local law enforcement and fire agencies to prepare for and respond to terrorist threats.</p>

<p>Two local school board members and their District that blocked a husband and wife from posting on social media accounts lost their legal battle and the District may now have to pay more than $425,000 in legal fees in the case.</p>

<p>A Chula Vista woman has been missing since January 7th and now police have searched her home for clues as to why the 39 year-old just vanished without a trace.</p>

<p>The San Diego City Council extended protections for residential and small business renters from being evicted as a result of not being able to pay rent due to COVID-19 impacts.</p>
<p>The move comes as existing moratoriums on evictions were due to expire in the City. New Mayor Todd Gloria proposed the two ordinances to help both residential and commercial tenants.</p>

<p>Joe Biden was sworn-in this morning as the new President of the United States, and his running mate, Kamala Harris, is now the first woman to ever serve as Vice-President or President.</p>
<p>Although Washington, D.C., was barricaded and secured like a war zone, Biden and Harris still held their inauguration on the steps of the US Capitol that just two weeks ago was assaulted by an angry mob incited by Donald Trump’s lies that the November election had been stolen.</p>

<p>San Diego County saw a small decline in COVID-19 patients hospitalizations but confirmed cases from testing remain well above the state rolling average to lower restrictions.</p>
<p>COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped 83 in a week and now total 1,721 patients, including 419 in intensive care units, leaving only 38 ICU beds available in the entire county.</p>
