<p>Joe Biden was sworn-in this morning as the new President of the United States, and his running mate, Kamala Harris, is now the first woman to ever serve as Vice-President or President.</p>
<p>Although Washington, D.C., was barricaded and secured like a war zone, Biden and Harris still held their inauguration on the steps of the US Capitol that just two weeks ago was assaulted by an angry mob incited by Donald Trump’s lies that the November election had been stolen.</p>

<p>San Diego County saw a small decline in COVID-19 patients hospitalizations but confirmed cases from testing remain well above the state rolling average to lower restrictions.</p>
<p>COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped 83 in a week and now total 1,721 patients, including 419 in intensive care units, leaving only 38 ICU beds available in the entire county.</p>

<p>A new shipment of COVID-19 vaccines arrived in San Diego today as cases continue to number more than 2,000 per day in our county.</p>
<p>A record number of cases has been reported in the past week, with the highest single day since the pandemic began having occurred last Friday when 3,611 new cases were reported. The past week has seen the five highest case counts of the year so far.</p>
