Early in the week Dr. Raj Chopra handed in his resignation effective immediately.

   At La Prensa San Diego we have supported Chopra in the way he has handled the business end of the institution. Sure he has stubbed his toes a couple of times, most notably for his handling of the student/teacher protest, but in the overall picture Chopra was the right man for the job at the time of his hiring.

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; President Obama has said that Americans don’t expect Washington to solve their problems, but they rightfully expect government to work for them — not against them. I agree.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; A U.S.-Colombia free trade accord is now more likely to be approved, as is more U.S. military aid to the government there.</p>
<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; The George W. Bush administration negotiated the trade agreement, but Congress never approved it. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama strongly opposed the Colombia trade deal, citing ongoing abuses against organized labor in the South American country.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Ron Nehring – California Republican State Chairman – dramatically called his Republican troops to the sound of the November guns with these words. Unfortunately for him on Election Day he was alone with no one and no money behind him just his words.</p>

   Durante casi todo el año, los estudiantes indocumentados tuvieron malas noticias.  La propuesta DREAM Act no fue aprobada en el Congreso de Washington y el gobernador Arnold Schwarzenegger, a pesar de ser inmigrante, nunca tuvo afinidad con dicha propuesta.

   Asimismo, los recientes comicios electorales arrojaron saldos negativos no sólo para los estudiantes indocumentados, sino también para toda la población de inmigrantes sin papeles legales.
